On July 17, Du Jiang, Vice chairman of CNTA, met with Haruka Nishimatsu, President of Japan Airlines in Beijing.


Du Jiang, on behalf of Shao Qiwei (chairman of CNTA), expressed his warm welcome to the delegation headed by Mr. Haruka Nishimatsu at first. As he said, China and Japan are close neighbors separated by only a narrow strip of water and always maintain long-term friendship and good relations of neighborhood. In terms of tourism industry, the two countries are important tourist source countries and tourist destinations for each other. With continued development of Chinese economy and simplified procedures to travel in Japan, ever-increasing Chinese citizens are going to enjoy travelling in Japan. According to the statistics of CNTA, 1.56 million person-times of Chinese citizens went sightseeing in Japan last year, up 6.8% year-on-year. As development of tourism industry is closely related with the airline industry, CNTA pays close attention to cooperate with the airline industry in Japan, and CNTA is willing to strengthen cooperation with the airline industry and tourism industry in Japan and to join hands to promote tourism development together.


Mr. Haruka Nishimatsu commented that Japan Airlines took the lead in initiating direct flights to China 35 years ago, and it always commit itself to friendly the exchanges between Chinese and Japanese people. As World Expo 2010 will be staged in Shanghai, China, Japan Airlines will seize this golden opportunity to continuously make active contributions to the contacts between peoples of the two countries.
