In 13th November, Shao Qiwei, chairman of China National Tourism Administration (CNTA), meet with Taleb Rifai, the Secretary-General of World Tourism Organization. In the meeting, both parties had an in-depth discussion of further cooperation.


Shao Qiwei firstly congratulated Taleb Rifai’s formal installation of the Secretary-General of World Tourism Organization, and warmly welcomed his first trip of China after the installation. Shao Qiwei said that, for the moment, the development of tourism industry is highlighted by Chinese government of all levels, the civil touring consciousness are incessantly improving. He also stated that the significance of the industry to cope with crisis and to create job opportunities is recognized more and more widely. He told that, with an innovative thought, the Chinese government is actively promoting the scientific development of tourism industry, in the meanwhile, China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) as always commits to promote the international tourism cooperation system in a pragmatic direction.


Taleb Rifai highly appreciated the viewpoint of Chinese party,and stated that the World Tourism Organization also has the resposibility of facilitating all the national governments to highlight the development of tourism industry. He said that, with the successful and effective measures taken to face the Financial Crisis, Chinese tourism industry had contributed a lot to the world’s economic revival, therefore the World Tourism Organization would establish a special survey body to study the case, and would disseminate the successful practise of China to other countries in the world.


In the meeting, both parties as well exchanged views about how to reinforce the cooperation in World Expo Shanghai 2010 and so on.
