On November 18th, Shao Qiwei (Chairman of China National Tourism Administration) met Kim Do-jun (Chairman, chief of DPRK’s tourism department) participating in China International Tourism Trade Fair 2009 in Kunming. Two sides made exchange of views on bilateral exchanges and cooperation in tourism industry. 

 

Shao Qiwei first welcomed Kim Do-jun and his delegation to Kunming and to participate in the event. He said China and North Korea are friendly neighbors, and peoples of two nations enjoy the profound friendship. And tourism exchanges between the two countries enjoy a favorable foundation. 

 

Shao Qiwei said that tourism exchanges of the two countries restored in an all-round way in 2008, the tourism authorities of the two countries frequently made exchange visits so that exchanges were more closely. In the future, tourism industry of the two countries should establish a better cooperation relationship to make personnel exchanges constantly expand between the two sides. 

 

Kim Do-jun expressed his thanks for the Chinese side which invited them to participate in China International Tourism Trade Fair 2009, and sincerely congratulated for great achievements of China's tourism industry. He said North Korea and China concluded Memorandum of Understanding on Tourism in Pyongyang in October 2009, which marked a new milestone for tourism cooperation between the two countries. He also expressed his wish that tourism authorities of the two countries can seize this golden opportunity to strengthen exchanges and cooperation, and learn from each other.
