The 2nd Beijing-Macao Cooperation and Exchange Symposium jointly held by Beijing Municipal People’s Government and Macao SAR Government was held in Macao from July 10th to 11th. Edmund Ho Hau-wah, vice-chairperson of the 12th CPPCC National Committee, attended the opening ceremony, and Chui Sai On, Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region, and Wang Anshun, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Mayor of Beijing, delivered speeches at the ceremony. Cheng Hong, Vice Mayor of Beijing, chaired the opening ceremony. Themed as “deepening exchange and cooperation; promoting win-win development”, the symposium took into consideration industrial development features of Beijing and Macao, and organized project connection and discussion between Beijing-based enterprises and institutions & enterprises in Macao, Portuguese-speaking countries and other countries concerned, with respect to cultural and creative industry, technology, tourism and small- and medium-sized enterprises. The event promoted the all-round cooperation in multiple fields between Beijing and Macao. A total of 57 intents or agreements for cooperation were signed during the symposium with a value of about RMB6.212 billion.
During the event, 72 exquisite pictures about Beijing were shown at the photo exhibition "Charming Beijing"; meanwhile, display of 19 delicate Cloisonne products and site fabrication of national intangible cultural heritage Cloisonne attracted a large number of visitors. A folk music concert jointly performed by Folk Music Orchestra of Beijing Dance Drama & Opera House and Macau Chinese Orchestra was successfully held twice. Moreover, over 100 young martial art enthusiasts from Beijing and Macao participated in exchange shows.
Having fulfilled the tasks for the symposium, Director Lu Yong also paid visits to Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region, Chairman of Pacific Asia Travel Association, Macau Government Tourist Office, MASTV and Institute For Tourism Studies on issues such as development of World Tourism Cities Federation. Later, he travelled to Hong Kong, where he visited Wen Wei Po Ltd and Hongkong Tourism Commission and conducted surveys on promoting tourism cooperation achievements in Beijing at the big screen of Hong Kong International Airport in 2013.
